Project:
Remembering the “Sacred War”, Dreaming of the “Good Life”: Memory of the Second World War and Soviet Everyday Culture
This project is focused on the commemoration of the Second World War in the context of everyday life and consumer culture in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic from the 1940s to the 1980s. The analysis of materiality and economic relations, urban planning, professional networks, and practices of everyday use of commemorative spaces lead to an understanding of how the cult of wartime heroism and self-sacrifice became intertwined with leisure and entertainment.
